What to expect immediately after tattoo removal

The area treated usually whitens instantaneously, but should only last for a few minutes. Next, you may experience a superficial burn wound.  In fact, some people experience bruising and/swelling for a few days. Within 12-72 hours after the removal treatment, you develop blisters or scabs, which could last up to 2 weeks. The healing process is usually complete in 6-8 weeks.

  • Washing Cloth
  • Antibiotic Ointment
  • Advil or Tylenol
  • Sterile Dressing
  • Sunblock SPF 25 higher

Tattoo Removal Aftercare Instructions

  1. You must keep the area completely clean dry for it to heal properly. When cleaning, make sure you use soap and water and gently use a cloth to pat dry.
  2. Do not pick allow the scab to be scrapped or picked.
  3. Shaving should be avoided until the affected area has fully healed.
  4. Do not apply creams or make-up to the affected area.
  5. Wear SPF of 25 or higher for about 3 months after the tattoo removal.
  6. Apply a thin coat of antibiotic ointment 3 times a day while affected area is healing.
  7. Redress area with sterile dressing after coating area with the antibiotic ointment.
  8. If you experience discomfort, bleeding or unusual swelling, contact the treatment center, immediately.
  9. If the affected area is oozing puss or blood, contact the treatment center where you had your removal immediately.
  10. If you have any type of extreme reaction, like difficulty breathing, facial swelling or a rash, call 911 immediately.
